Uralla Historical Society

Uralla Historical Society was formed in 1979 with the specific purpose of buying the then derelict McCrossin's Mill, restoring it, and converting it to a Museum and Function Centre.

All this was achieved under the supervison and guidance of visionary architect, Peter Myers.

McCrossin's Mill Museum was officially opened on May 2nd, 1982, and in 1983 Peter Myers won the RAIA (NSW) Award for Restoration for his Uralla project.

Members of the Society work on an entirely voluntary basis. Function Centre operations, including catering, are run by the Special Activities Committee.

The Society owns the Mill outright, the adjoining Chaff Shed, and McCrossin's Stables/Store.

Members enjoy many benefits, including - "ownership" of the wonderful buildings and gardens

- free entry to the museum

- discount rates for hire of the function centre

- the strong sense of teamwork

- a sense of achievement because the place is vibrant and successful

- entertaining visitors

- learning about local history and issues

- contributing to cultural tourism and the economic well-being of Uralla
